What can you find on an actor profile?

The actor profile is the detailed information page of a company, person or collaboration.

Actor profile bar

The actor profile bar is a toolbar with different tabs containing the actor profile information or allowing users to edit their information.

Depending on the type of ecosystem, more or less tabs will be visible.

  • General: general actor information (bio, activities, domain, social media feed…)
  • Connections: add, remove or edit relationships between actors
  • Reports: gives access to the reporting tool and individual note taking (needs to be activated in the settings)
  • Scores: access to DataScouts scores and related growth metrics (only available in DataScouts PRO)
  • Harvested data: provides a continuous stream of suggestions to enrich actors profile (only for owners)
  • Edit: edit actor information

Side bar

The sidebar of an actor profile contains a lot of valuable information about the actor profile:

  • Website screenshot
  • Short descriptions
  • Contact details (website, email and phone)
  • Social accounts
  • Tags
  • Business admin info (company number, foundation date, membership,…)
  • Repository of files (images, flyers, presentations,…)
  • Relationships
  • Contributors

Owners and users, who have claimed the Actor profile, can drag and drop files to the file repository on an actor detail page. If the reports are enabled, the files added to a report will appear in this repository as well. The files are only visible for the ecosystem owners (depending on the configuration).

Any type of file can be uploaded, up to 10 files at once. The upload date and size are shown below the file.

The banner image can replace the map that’s on the top of the Actor profile. Images in the file repository of the actor profile can be set as the banner by clicking on set feature image in the file details. This feature is only available to the user who have claimed the actor, including both contributors and admins.

How do I indicate membership level of the actors in my ecosystem?

When you label an actor as a member, this user is highlighted with a colored triangle in the top left corner of their profile. Once the membership level is included, filters can be set based on the membership. The color is defaulted based on the branding of the ecosystem, but can be changed upon request. Moreover, for those who would like to have multiple membership levels, this can be also be added upon request.

How do I uncover connections in my ecosystem?

To uncover the connections in the ecosystem, use the interactive spider graph or visit an actor’s full profile.

To uncover the connections in the ecosystem, several options are included. To achieve an overview of all the connections in your ecosystem, use the connections featured in the dashboard. This dashboard provides a spidergraph that uncovers all the connections in your ecosystem.

Connections in your ecosystem

Another option to uncover connections is by visiting the full profile of an ecosystem actor. For example, on the full profile, those who have invested in an actor can be made visible.

How do I start with suggestions?

Suggestions enable owners to take control of the data enriching. This step can be done in bulk via the suggestions tab or more specific on an actor level through the harvested data. Suggested information can only be found for actors with a URL. Suggestions are only available through Premium & Pro ecosystems.

Suggested information

Suggested information is collected on the website of the actor. The DataScouts enricher can only suggest this information, when a URL is available.

The enricher can look for 10 different properties:

  1. Facebook account
  2. Instagram account
  3. LinkedIn account
  4. YouTube account
  5. Vimeo account
  6. Phone number
  7. Email address
  8. Company description
  9. Tags and keywords
  10. Company phone number

Suggestions can be found in the Datalab. This feature can only be accessed by Ecosystem Owners.

Suggestions are the way to quickly curate the suggested information of the entire ecosystem. Suggestions can be filtered per property. This information is also searchable for specific words or actors.

The Suggestions table includes 5 main sections:

  1. Actor: the user for which the suggestions was found
  2. Property: the property for which the suggestions was found
  3. Suggestions: the suggestions and the current value that will be replaced
  4. Suggested by: those who suggested the information
  5. Date: when was the suggestion was made

On the suggestion tab owners will not only find suggested information by one of the DataScouts enrichers, but they will also see the report suggestions made by the ecosystem. Report suggestions will only appear if this setting is enabled in the reporting.

To maintain a good overview, only 5 suggestions per actor will be shown at once.

Curating suggestions

When a Suggestion is selected, the deny or accept buttons will appear. Easily deselect current selections or select all the suggestions already loaded.

A maximum of 50 suggestions can be accepted or denied immediately. When more suggestions are selected, a warning will appear that it might take a little longer. Please don’t worry about the delay, the suggestions will be implemented before you know it!

Harvested data

The harvested data tab can be found on the actor profile. On this tab, ecosystem owners can select the suggested information that is correct for that specific actor.

The suggested information can either be added (for example, tags) or replace current information.

How do I use the Gallery View?

The gallery view provides a tabular overview of short actor profiles of the actors in your ecosystem.

The gallery view can be found under the directory page, and can be enabled via the dotted square in the top right corner of the page (see screenshot). The gallery view provides a tabular overview of short actor profiles of the actors in your ecosystem. The overview consist of small actor profiles with a screenshot of their website (if available), their name, location, industry, URL and description. The gallery view shows the actors based on the active filters, and the order in which the actors are displayed is based on the list view. If the list view is not available, then the order is based on the latest updated actor profile. The number of actors shown in the gallery view can be set to 10, 50 or 100 via the box in the top left corner.

How do I use the Social Media Monitoring dashboard?

The Social Media Monitoring dashboard is the external voice of the ecosystem. The “waterfall system” will show all the tweets from all the actors entered into the ecosystem.

news dashboard

The Social Media Monitoring dashboard offers a lot of possibilities:

Users can like, retweet or view the tweet on the Twitter website. If a company tweets too much and spoils the entire dashboard, this Twitter account can be hidden. To do this, simply click on the eye-icon. These Twitter handles are only hidden during the current session.

Filters can be used to focus on a specific segment of the ecosystem. Only the Tweets of the actors that match the current filters can be seen.

The News dashboard will also show what topics are popular in that network, and also which persons, projects or companies have the most impact.
